Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner signed the proposed intrastate equity crowdfunding legislation into law today. The bill takes effect on January 1, 2016, and will allow Illinois companies to take investments from Illinois non-accredited investors through crowdfunding platforms under certain circumstances. The bill had previously been passed unanimously in both the Illinois Senate and the Illinois House of Representatives. PeerRealty CEO Jordan Fishfeld wrote about the bill in more detail in two prior blog posts on our site. Jordan and PeerRealty Head of Marketing Daniel Kelly were both quoted in this Chicago Tribune story discussing Gov. Rauner’s signing of the bill.
